Better you than me. That’s the way I’ve felt most of my life. Recently, however, I have been rethinking that attitude. Perhaps, on occasion, it might be better me than you.
Most people would make light of my present situation. I tend toward darkness, a candle here and there, to set the mood, but not enough light to actually see the details. Maybe it’s my eyes. They seem to be getting more sensitive to light, either due to age or to living in the Pacific Northwest. Clouds have reduced my focus.
We might not have anything in common other than complaining about the weather. If there was a connection created within our discussion, I missed it when I noticed the flier that was posted on a telephone pole. Lost Cat, it said.
I hope you knew what I knew because it blew our minds, more than once. When we heard the bells tolling, we went our separate ways, but not before getting in a few below-the-belt punches. I liked that.
Now we are where we are and the belts tighten. Since I wasn’t good at saying goodbye, I do want you to know that I kept all the postcards, not because of what you wrote on them but because I liked the pictures. I framed one and have it hanging on my wall near the door.

Where'd I go?
That life was good, but too many people fall into the trap of waxing about the good ol’ days and how times have changed. Yeah, well, some days I enjoy breakfast more than dinner. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Don’t forget that.
Time is changing. It is changed by my life. It is changed by your life as well. It changes for me differently than it might change for you, but it is changing more rapidly than we can discern. You can exert a force on time and it will react accordingly. When you are in a hurry, normal events seem to take much longer. When you forget about time, it forgets about you.
On a personal day-to-day scale, this is easy to understand, but taken to a world-wide level, with everyone placing different demands on time, it creates too much stress for time. It pulls us apart.
These days we expect everything to be open all the time, to get what we want immediately, and to never have enough time to use what we have. One day time will vanish. It will be gone. There will be no more time.
